The Regional Commissions New York Office (RCNYO) is a joint office established to coordinate, represent, and provide policy advice at the global level for the five United Nations Regional Commissions. These include the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE), and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Reporting directly to the Director of RCNYO, our office bridges regional development insights with global policy-making frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Regional Commissions New York Office (RCNYO), and with a primary focus on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the follow-up to the Summit of the Future, the successful candidate will perform the following duties:
- Programme Development & Evaluation: Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned programmes and projects relevant to the five UN Regional Commissions.
- Policy Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and analyze policy debates, legislative outcomes, and decision-making processes within global UN intergovernmental bodies.
- Strategic Communications: Draft high-quality written outputs, including background papers, analytical reports, inputs for publications, meeting summaries, and executive speeches.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Support the active participation of Regional Commissions in UN system-wide coordination mechanisms, inter-agency processes, and partnership initiatives.
- Meeting & Event Management: Provide programmatic and organizational support for high-level consultative meetings, panels, and global conferences.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, process, and analyze complex datasets to identify trends. Produce charts, graphs, and visual dashboards to support strategic planning and reporting.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Public Administration, Management, Economics, International Relations, or a related field is required.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
- Completion of degree or non-degree programs in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or Data Science is highly desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, public administration, or international development is required.
- Proven experience in economic, social, or sustainable development policies at the international level is required.
- Desirable: Professional experience within the United Nations Common System, international regional commissions, or supporting governmental negotiations in secretariat capacities.
- Desirable: Demonstrated experience leveraging data analytics tools to inform management decisions.
Languages
- English: Fluency (UN Level II equivalent in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking) is required.
- French: Working knowledge (UN Level I equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered a strong asset.
