About Us

Established in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) serves as the central focal point within the United Nations system for coordinating disaster risk reduction efforts. UNDRR builds vital synergies among disaster reduction initiatives executed by the UN, regional organizations, and national governments. Directed by the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), our organization drives the implementation, monitoring, and progress sharing of the landmark Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030.

We are actively recruiting an experienced Technical Advisor to manage the high-level coordination and delivery of the sessions for the IX Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean (RP27), scheduled to take place in Nassau, The Bahamas. This essential hybrid event convenes member states, civil society, and private sector leaders to advance resilient recovery with a dedicated emphasis on Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
