Key Responsibilities

The selected Consultant - Senior Legal Expert, Publishing will be responsible for the following key project deliverables:

  • Coordinate, draft, and execute key project deliverables in support of the International Organization's operational publishing objectives in multiple destinations.
  • Provide authoritative legal counsel on intellectual property rights, copyright laws, and complex publishing agreements.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal legal divisions and external international stakeholders to mitigate operational and legal risks.
  • Provide legal oversight and quality assurance on multi-jurisdictional publishing projects to ensure strict compliance with international standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

To qualify for this senior-level legal consultancy position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Law, with a specialized focus on intellectual property or international publishing law.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive professional experience as a legal expert, preferably within an international organization, NGO, or multinational publishing house.
  • Technical Skills: Proven expertise in drafting, negotiating, and executing publishing contracts and partnership agreements.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated professional leadership, strategic analytical capabilities, and excellent intercultural communication skills.
  • Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is highly advantageous.
