Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Chief Pharmacist, the successful candidate will provide clinical leadership in the safe management, dispensing, and control of pharmaceuticals. Key duties include:

• Overseeing safe dispensing procedures by clinical monitoring of activities performed by pharmaceutical technologists.
• Executing proactive, effective interventions at all stages of the Medication Management and Use (MMU) system to eliminate medical errors.
• Engaging with clients proactively to resolve concerns and ensure timely feedback.
• Managing pharmacy turnaround times to optimize workflow and service delivery.
• Implementing quality policies and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) within the department.
• Participating in drug use reviews (DURs) and clinical ward rounds alongside doctors and other care providers.
• Controlling stock variations and maintaining strict inventory management practices.
• Preparing and dispensing medications with precision, especially High Alert Medications.
• Generating and submitting clinical reports on medication errors, pharmacy interventions, stock variances, and client satisfaction.
• Guiding and active tracking of antimicrobial stewardship across the hospital.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this clinical role, candidates must meet the following professional criteria:

• Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a recognized university.
• Licensing: Valid Registration Certificate and active Practice License from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) of Kenya.
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of working experience within a busy, multi-specialty hospital setup.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Specialized Knowledge: Proven clinical experience and knowledge in chemotherapy preparation and IV admixture techniques.
